RE-CONNECT

2023 RE-CONNECT《A Poetic Encounter, A Daydream》Screening and Talk

Introduction

We navigate through different cultural backgrounds and values, where the individual is fragmented, fluid, changeable, and displaced. How can individuals in post-society access stable affective connections, a deep sense of belonging, and a reliable, ideal life?
Emotion is a vast domain. It can be the romance felt between lovers, the warmth and happiness shared among close friends, the strength and heroism found within a collective, or the serendipitous delightful encounter with strangers. This is a continuously clustering, dynamic process of interaction. Hanxuan Jiang hopes to genuinely feel her existence through these encounters, connections, and emotional bonds. She believes filming is not just about documenting conversations, emotions, and moments in time; it is a gateway to explore sincere interactions with others. The camera helps measure the boundaries and trust between me and ‘them’, the filmed and captured. Personal life seems very individualistic, but the conversations, reflections, and introspections encountered in daily life inevitably reflect society at large. These private matters reveal individual dilemmas, struggles, aspirations, determination, wanderings, and imaginations, unfolding genuine conversations amidst subtle emotions.
We hope that participants will resonate with the flowing images and magnified individual emotions.
We invite you to join us in a nocturnal daydream.
