2023 RE-CONNECT《Conversation in the Kitchen III》Art Video Project Participant Recruitment

Introduction

“Conversation in the Kitchen” is a three-year “participatory video” art project by A4 artist-in-residence Jiang Hanxuan in Latvia and Oxford, UK: understanding people’s daily interactions through the specific space of the kitchen.
As an indispensable space in the house, the kitchen is a familiar but easily overlooked “mediator of emotional communication”. In this project, the artist hopes that through the conversation in the kitchen, people can draw out the connection of individual emotions, think about the importance of the kitchen in people’s interactions, and make everyone rethink the function, function and boundary of the kitchen space.
This project not only hopes that the participants will be the “subjects” in the short film, but also expects everyone to experience the process of filming and even editing together. I hope that everyone can create a relaxed environment where they can express their ideas equally.

  • Artist

    Jiang Hanxuan

    Video artist, director, professional teacher of Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts. He holds a double master’s degree from the University of Oxford and the Royal College of Art. His works have participated in more than 30 exhibitions and film festivals at home and abroad, including the 2019 Florence International Biennale of Contemporary Art, the 2020 European Short Film Festival, the 2019 London Independent Film Festival, the 2019 Coventry Biennial, the 2021 9th International Poetry and Video Film, the 2019 Beijing International Art Biennale, etc., and have been screened online on the UK Film Channel. As one of the artist delegations, he participated in the “Continuing the Frontier: Art Creation and Exchange” event in Manchester, UK (organized by ESEA Contemporary, supported by the British Council, 2023), and has held solo exhibitions at the James Dyson Art Museum of the Royal Academy of Art, Three Shadows Xiamen Photography Art Centre, and ACENTRISPACE.
