Born in Yamanashi, Japan in 1976, he graduated from Ritsumeikan University’s School of International Relations in 1999 and received his BFA from the City University of New York in 2002. From her early installations, when she transformed the plastic bags that can be seen in supermarkets into “silent flower fields”, artist Junko Maruyama’s works have always taken the discarded and discarded objects in life as objects, recycled and transformed them, and finally presented the different states and changes of things. Recently, she has developed soap powder made from waste oil and water as a creative material, drawing patterns in various possible spaces. Junko Maruyama has held solo exhibitions in Yokohama, Taipei, and London, and in 2009 received several awards, including the Asahi Shimbun Foundation and the Special Jury Award of the Taipei-Yokohama City Artist Exchange Program.
