Insta-maybe:When Cameras Play Hard to Ge Art Project On-Site

Introduction

Chen Fenwan, who has been hailed by the media as “the top paper-cutting artist of the post-90s”, set up a Polaroid booth at the entrance of the CPI, where she created double-exposure Polaroid pictures with visitors. Because of the uncertainty of double exposure, the Polaroid may not be successful, good-looking or satisfying, and the process of creation is full of randomness, hence the name “Polaroid”.

The double-exposure filming process needs to be completed by the subject and the artist in cooperation, and the superimposed characters appearing in the filming are chosen by the previous subject: the whole creative production process produces a penetration, and after being filmed, you need to choose a word for the next guest, which will appear as the double-exposure superimposed characters of the next subject. ‘Love’, ‘Wish’, ‘Dream’, ‘Good’, ‘Love’ …… Words with various meanings together with the photographed person form the inspiration for Pink Pill’s artwork.

    Chen Fenwan is an artist who graduated from the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts and currently lives and works between Guangzhou and Foshan. When she was younger, she was heralded as one of the top upcoming paper artists in China by the media. Most of her works lie in the language of paper, bringing imagination of narrative on flexible materials, usually with large-scale and multi-dimensional pieces. She is good at combining her personal experience with public memories, in which process the emotional tension of collective resonance gathers, to communicate with a wider
    audience and inhabit public spaces.
